Mt. Fuji Climbing Relay
Sun. August 3, 2008
Gotemba, Shizuoka
The race starts at 8:00 AM from Gotemba Municipal Track and Field.

Mt. Fuji Climbing Relay is a marathon relay race on Gotemba Trail. It's a round-trip between Gotemba Municipal Track and Field and the summit of Mount Fuji.
The course is divided into 6 sections--the first runner runs the first section, the second runs the second section, and so forth. When the 6th runner reaches the summit of Mount Fuji, he or she runs down the same section. Likewise, every runner runs down the same section which they originally ran up, and the first runner finishes at Gotemba Municipal Track and Field.
The total length is 46.97 km (29 miles), and the difference of elevation is 3,199 m (2 miles).
Many Japan Self-Defense Forces teams participate, possibly as part of training.
