We can now climb up Gotemba Trail to the summit as the regulation was removed today, July 8. Subashiri Trail has already been open to the summit on July 4. The only trail left is Fujinomiya Trail, on which we are allowed to climb only up to the 9th station at this point.

The annual climbing season of Mt. Fuji has finally come.
Mt. Fuji is officially "open" as of July 1st. You can see a picture of the first people who climbed to the top this year at the Asahi Newspaper Web site. These people climbed the Fuji-yoshida trail in Yamanashi prefecture. The article says the sunrise was at 4:30 AM and the temperature at the summit was 3 degrees celsius (37.4 degrees fahrenheit).
