Fujinomiya trail on Sept 5th

Posted August 22nd, 2008 by randy y

I know that the official climbing season ends at the end of August, but is the Fujinomiya trail open on Sept 5th ? I see that the 5th hut is closed on Aug 31st, but the 7th hut is open. Also do the buses stop operating after Aug 31st? How would you get to the trail?

I would appreciate any information

hi randy,

The bus to the 5th station of Fujinomiya Trail runs only during the official season. Unless you have your own car, taxi is the only option.
This Wbe page (http://43.244.211.243/~banno/banno19/hujisan_honbun.html) says it cost about 9,000 yen from JR Fujinomiya station. This page (http://www23.tok2.com/home/shandi/fuji1998/fuji1998.html) says it cost about 10,000 yen from JR Gotemba station.

There are few places to stay (if not full) on the Fujinomiyra Trail after the official season is ended. The one at the 7th station is open until Sept. 6th this year (http://web.thn.jp/ganso/), but they insists we'd better make a reservation, and it must be done by phone, by Aug. 25, between 6 AM and 8 PM (http://web.thn.jp/ganso/yoyaku.htm).

Fujinomiya Trail is not literally closed, but seems practically closed after Aug. 31.
