Hi! I see that several groups are climbing in mid- to late- June and I'd like to go June 20th or 21st but I'm confused by the bus schedule. If the earliest bus arrives at the fifth station at 10:40 and the latest one leaves at 15:40 then you obviously can't get up and down in that time. Is it necessary to stay overnight (which I'm not equipped to do) or is there a way to arrange for a pick-up after the last bus? Or what do you do? Thanks for any help!

Hi sheepfugue,
because June is outside the official climbing season, the buses are not scheduled for climber's convenience. For the same reason all mountain huts along the trail are closed so we don't have any shelters to stay overnight comfortably (more or less), either.
kensaurus kindly shared his experience of climbing Mt. Fuji on June 6, 2009.

I did see kensaurus' blog post, it was great!
I guess I was confused why they bother running buses at all, in that case. But then thinking about it today I realized the people who set up the huts would need to prepare them this month so maybe it's for them.

I think you're right. Also, people visit the 5th station just to be on Mt. Fuji.
Some restaurants and souvenir shops at the 5th station are open from April to November.
