climbing in late october - anyone interested?

Posted October 15th, 2009 by abhays

Hi,

I'm going to be in Japan Oct 24 - Nov 10 visiting family. I'm interested in going up Fuji in the last week of october. I'm aware that the official season is over, and that there are significant risks in climbing off-season. However, I'm told that the mountain is climbable year-round with experience and equipment. Are there any experienced folks interested in climbing with me? I'm looking to do a 1 or 2 day trip to the mountain. I've climbed high altitudes before (14+) in snow and ice; I know how to use crampons and self arrest with ice axes. I've also used anchors and ropes, but only on rock, not ice.

let me know (PM) if interested - this should be a fun trip, and with appropriate precautions, a safe one.
