hi guys!
i am planning to climb mt fuji via gotemba trail on the 4th week of july, i plan to fly to japan on the 20th then climb the next day. here are my questions:
1. can the gotemba trail be done solo?
2. are there any fork trails or the trails there are already established (meaning i won't get lost if i wander off alone).?
3. will there be any problems in reserving for midpoint and 5th station hostels?
4. from gotemba, how do i travel to odaiba's gundam (hehehehe i want this sidetrip)?
5. what's the best ramen house around gotemba area or just anywhere nearest narita airport?
thanks a lot :)

Hi gubblebum01,
1. can the gotemba trail be done solo?
On the 4th week of July, you'll most likely find some other people climbing, too.
2. are there any fork trails or the trails there are already established (meaning i won't get lost if i wander off alone).?
Mount Fuji trails are easy to follow. Just be careful not to descend a wrong trail.
3. will there be any problems in reserving for midpoint and 5th station hostels?
The mountain huts on the Gotemba trail may not have English-speaking staff, but you can try calling them. Phone numbers can be found here:
http://mountfujiguide.com/guide/Gotemba_Trail
(the ones with 0550-84-xxxx are phone numbers.)
4. from gotemba, how do i travel to odaiba's gundam (hehehehe i want this sidetrip)?
You can take a highway bus from Gotemba train station to Tokyo, then take a train to Odaiba.
5. what's the best ramen house around gotemba area or just anywhere nearest narita airport?
There's a place called Ramen Street, where several good Ramen shops are gathering.

Since you'll probably stop at Tokyo station, I think that's the most convenient option.
