Hi
I am looking for anyone else wanting to climb up on the Saturday evening, for the Sunday morning sunrise.
I have a reasonable level of fitness, but am not someone who usually runs up mountains.
Let me know

Hello,
I live in Tokyo and would like to climb Fuji. I am only available the last weekend of August to climb. I would like to find others to climb with also.

Hi David,
Were you thinking of doing the overnight climb or a day climb? Do you know of anyone else wanting to join the party as well, or just yourself?

hey im looking to join a climbing party too, 28th Aug is good - i think a day climb might be more rewarding but im happy to do a night climb. have you decided on a trail?

Hi
I was thinking of the kawaguchi trail, as it is the easiest from Tokyo, where I will be based. Will you be coming from there too? I have not quite decided yet about whether to go during the day or night, as I was not sure if I might be on my own...
For the direct buses to and from Shinjuku, the times are more convenient with a night climb, otherwise the return would have to be a bus and several train changes... Do you speak any Japanese?

i speak some Japanese but i dont read much though. I'll be coming from tokyo. i just looked at the trails again. Kawaguchi trail is supposed to be most popular but seems quite crowded(tourist trail) - Subashiri Trail also sounds good, less crowded, lots of greenery - (all other trails are supposedly bare). I have to check the bus schedules from Shinjuku- if theres an early bus out i think i'll try and shoot for the day climb. keep you posted

Hi
I have mostly looked at the Kawguchi trail because I will be based near Shinjuku and it will be my first day in Tokyo and it is apparently most convenient.
DO you definitely want to climb during the day, rather than see the sunrise in the morning? My friend checked the early buses for the direct Shinjuku-> kawaguchi 5th station and they are all already full.
This site apparently has info about the other bus

Watching the sunrise is what appeals most to me, but I put up this post as I would prefer to have another climbing partner with me, just in case...

Hi been looking at some sites on climbing Mt Fuji. Only reason I wanted to do the day climb is because the night one is pretty crowded – I hear...and of course wanted to avoid the huts(too pricey I think).
BUT I will do the night climb...sunrise would be great but no guarantees. By the way apparently weekends and holidays are very crowded and 28th /29th being the last weekend of the official climbing season its bound to be very crowded. We could take the Yoshida trail its the most popular one and will be quite busy I think but has more stop areas.
How do you plan to get to the trail head? There are buses from Shinjuku straight to the 5th station but prior reservation is necessary. Check this link for the Fujikyu bus info(english) http://transportation.fujikyu.co.jp/english/gettingaround/28.html
It’s also possible to get to Kawaguchiko by train and then take a bus to the 5th station – this is a little more expensive. Please let me know which day is good for you. I can do the climb on either Friday 27 or 28th (I’d prefer 27th though).

Saw your post. The original post was for 2010, but since you posted 3 weeks ago I assume you are referring to August 2011. I was planning to climb August 31. Does that fit your schedule?
