Mount Fuji Guide - Climbing Mount Fuji and Traveling in Japan

Looking for a climb tour - 9th/10th July 2012

Hello all, I'm coming to Japan in July and I'm trying to find a tour from Tokyo to Mt Fuji to do the sunrise summit climb, ideally on the 9th/10th July. There are a couple of places online but they have no tours planned for these dates, most seem to be later in the month.

I will also need to hire some climbing gear (waterproof clothes mainly) so information of rental places would be very useful too. I had originally planned to organise the trip on my own but it's so tight time wise I though it's better to be guided, like the idea of the hot spring on the day of the decent too which many of the tours seem to include.

Any help would be grateful received.

I am planning to climb Mt Fuji in Mid Sept 2012 on the Fujinomiya trail. Can anyone advise whether anything will be open along that trail, and does anyone want to hike with me ? I am reasonably fit.
Also, any tips/traps to be wary of for that time of year ?

my boyfriend and I (from Germany) will visit Japan this August/September and we plan to climb mt Fuji in the last week of August. We want to climb it at night to see the sunrise from the top of the mountain.

One of the most frequently asked questions at Mount Fuji Guide is "can I climb Mount Fuji in winter?"
Because we are not expert climbers, we cannot give you a judgement whether you have enough skill for winter climbing or not.
All we can do is to show what kind of risks are involved in climbing the mountain in winter.
Today we found yet another news about a man who fell from the icy mountain.
Luckily the man was rescued and now recovering from fractured legs and frostbite, according to the article.

The official climbing season of Mount Fuji has started. The status of each trail is as follows.
- Kawaguchiko Trail: open to the summit
- Fujinomiya Trail: open to the 7th station
- Gotemba Trail: open to the 6th station
- Subashiri Trail: open to the 7th station
As of July 5, Kawaguchiko Trail is the only way we can climb to the top.

It seems that we are to expect much fewer tourists from foreign countries this year, according to Emotion Journal.

"TOKYO - Japan’s quake-tsunami disaster and nuclear emergency have led to a record 62.5 percent plunge in foreign tourists, a government agency said Thursday.
There were an estimated 295,800 visitors from abroad in April, down from 788,000 in April 2010, a second straight decline following a 50.3-percent year-on-year drop in March, the Japan National Tourism Organization said."

Another M7 aftershock struck north-eastern Japan in the evening of April 11.
All tsunami warnings have already been lifted.
It temporarily disrupted the water injection to the Fukushima nuclear plant, but the function is now recovered.
