Mt. Fuji - June 26-27, 2010

FORUM TOPIC allan klotsche

A friend of mine (from Beijing) and I (from Milwaukee) are looking to climb Mt. Fuji on June 26th or 27th, 2010 I have read many cautions about climbing before the official season begins, but can't imagine that 3-4 days makes that much of a difference? We would be interested in joining up with another group if anyone is going that weekend. Please contact me at amklotsche@wi.rr.com Does anyone know of any reliable guide services where we could hire a guide for the day?

Climbing Mt. Fuji June 24th - 27th

FORUM TOPIC allan klotsche

A friend of mine and I are looking to climb Mt. Fuji in late June. I am wondering if anyone knows when the Stations will be opening. From what I can tell, some of the stations may open a few days before the official season. Is there any way to determine this ahead of time? We would welcome the opportunity to climb with anyone who may be planning to climb during this time. Please send me an e-mail if you are interested. amklotsche@wi.rr.com

hi, allan klotsche.
In general, mountain huts open when the local government announces the official opening of the trails. This typically happens on July 1st, but last year it was postponed until July 8th due to lingering snow. (http://mountfujiguide.com/blog/4plus/386)
As you said, however, some mountain huts may be open before and after the official climbing season, serving expert climbers.
I guess making a phone call is the only way to check.
