Lake Tanukiko is located in Asagiri Plateau. It's most famous for "Diamond Fuji", a view of sunrise from the summit of Mount Fuji. This glorious sight can be seen twice every year, once on around April 20 and the other August 20.
A survey conducted by some TV program showed that Lake Tanukiko is the most popular place to view Mount Fuji from.

The lake provides various facilities and amenities for outdoor activity, including bungalows, tent sites, bicycles, boats, and fishing poles. Bungalows must be reserved in advance, while tent sites must be checked in at the office (first-come, first-served). Swimming in the lake is prohibited.

In spring, the view of Mount Fuji and cherry trees in full bloom around the lake is beautiful.
The lake is usually crowded on sunny weekends in summer.

A pretty, reasonable hotel called Kyukamura Fuji is located by the lake.

Although not well known, Lake Tanukiko is actually an artificial lake originally created for agricultural purpose.
